Immigration deports influencer and her husband for nude photo on sacred tree.
Indonesian immigration office in Bali, on Friday, said it would deport a Russian influencer and
her husband after they posed for a nude photo on a centuries-old sacred tree in Tabanan district.
Bali Immigration Head, Jamaruli Manihuruk, said in a statement that Alina Fazleeva and her husband would be deported
immediately and would be banned from entering Indonesia for at least six months.
Fazleva posted on May 1 the picture of her posing nude leaning against the giant banyan tree considered sacred to Bali’s
Hindus on her Instagram account.
Her husband Andrey Fazleev also took the photo, which had been deleted but already went viral and angered the Balinese.
Manuhuruk said “they have taken responsibility for their actions and have performed a ritual on May 6 in Tua village of
Tabanan district in accordance to the local custom.
“They carried out activities that endangered public order and were disrespectful to the local norms, so they are sanctioned
with deportation and their names will be included in an entry ban list.”
Bali Governor I, Wayan Koster, said the two Russians’ actions were unpardonable and disgraceful and this should serve as
warning for foreigners to respect the local norms.
Meanwhile, Fazleeva had posted a photo of her and her husband performing the ritual on her Instagram and wrote a caption
in Indonesian to apologise for her conduct.
Bali had repeatedly deported foreigners from the resort island for violating regulations and disrespecting the local customs.
The immigration office deported a Canadian actor in April after a clip of him dancing naked at Mount Batur went viral.
