Gunmen abduct female students in spite of Buhari’s promise to Nigerians.

Some unknown gunmen on Friday abducted female students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation, Mando Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The gunmen invaded the College very early in the morning and took away many female students to an unknown destination in spite of President Muhammadu Buhari’s assurance to Nigerians on sunday that abduction of female students from Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, would be the last to happen.

The college is located close to the Kaduna International Airport where bandits recently abducted some workers of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.

Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the abduction. He said investigation is being carried out and efforts are being made to return the students.

The Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige comfirmed the attack in a telephone interview on Friday in Kaduna .
Jalige said the attack happened at about 3:00am of Friday, and unspecified number of the students had been abducted.
“Yes students were kidnapped but we dont have the exact number of students kidnapped,” he added.
Jalige however said police and military operatives are working to trace the kidnappers and rescue the students.
He said the command will give update on the incident.

Buhari’s assurance to Nigerians that Jangebe abduction would be the last was made through Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, who led a high-powered federal government delegation to sympathise with the people and government of Zamfara.
